OutRunners Hong Kong is Recruiting for #Paris2018 Gay Games


Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 is happy to announce that OutRunners Hong Kong is recruiting athletes from across Asia in preparation for the 10th Gay Games being hosted in Paris, France and which will take place August 4-12 2018. Participants from all over the world will meet in Paris to compete, play, share, and have fun. Will you join us? We hope so! The Paris 2018 Gay Games will be a fabulous Celebration of Diversity, with up to 15,000 participants, 36 sports, 14 cultural events, 2 ceremonies, 1 village, and a sports conference.

Alex, please tell our readers  a little about yourself?
Never give up on your passion and be ready to take on any opportunity.
I believe that challenging oneself to grow and learn is critical to being happy, healthy and well-balanced in our lives. Sports have always been the outlet I needed to get me through the good times and not so good times in my life. I have always loved team sports, as a teenager I learned that there is nothing more exhilarating than captaining local sports teams to victory! As I get older, that same thrill now drives my passion for road and trail running– there is nowhere I will not go to compete in a race, regardless of cities or countries.
With the help of the ‘Out in Hong Kong’ wellness and fitness network, I have been able to connect with other members and supporters of the LGBT+ community to run and socialize together under the name of ‘OutRunners Hong Kong’ which has again given me more opportunities to grow and learn within my passion.
Is there an LGBT+ league in Asia for this sport? Do you play against straight teams?
I am not aware of any LGBT+ running teams in Asia. Yes, most of our runners do compete in the running events throughout the year. For example, Green Race HK, and The Great Relay.
Why do you think it is important to have an LGBT+ sports team?
Diversity and Inclusion. And more importantly, less discrimination.
Why do you (and your teammates) want to go to Paris2018?
We want to show support for our LGBT+ communities as well as promoting OutRunners HK.
