How-To Get Tender, Juicy Pork Chops Every Time!

Love juicy, delicious pork chops? So do we! Every bite of our amazingly tasty and tender Scan pork is filled with mouth-watering natural pork flavour. We raise our pigs on small Nordic family farms and feed them completely natural diet of GMO-free corn mixed with locally grown rapeseed (which is the reason our pork is so high in natural Omega 3’s!). There are too many times when pork chops simply don’t get the praise they deserve. When prepared correctly, this lean cut is delicious as a tender, flavorful main course. Pork chops can serve as a simple supper, yet also has a place on the table at a nice holiday dinner.
Using a high quality pork, like Scan’s Flowerfed Nordic Pork, helps every meal turn out perfectly. Below we share our top tips for preparing an amazing pork chop dinner!
Avoid buying boneless
In general, it is always better to buy poultry and meat with the bone-in. It helps slow down the process of cooking the meat, thereby giving you more leeway so that you get a nice and crispy sear. Bone-in pork chops also gives your final product a considerably richer flavor.
Use enough seasoning
When preparing a juicy pork meal, you must use lots of salt and pepper. The aim is to apply lots of seasoning so that your crust becomes exceptionally flavorful, thus transforming your meal into a feast!
Let your meat come to room temperature before cooking
Once you remove the pork from the fridge, allow at least 30 minutes rest on your counter before you start cooking. Letting your pork warm up will ensure a nice, tender center with good crust.
Don’t trim off the fat
Rather than cutting off of the little fat layer around your pork chop, capitalize on it to make your meal even more flavorful. Simply stand the chops on their sides and render the fat crispy and brown on all sides.
Always let your pork rest
It’s tempting to want to dive straight into a pork chop fresh out of the pan, but it’s best to wait. Giving the chops a few minutes to rest so the fibers of the meat relax, which make it even more tender and juicy. We recommend cooking your pork until the internal temperature reaches 65°C / 145°F (with a light pink center) followed by a 3-minute rest time.
Quality of Meat
Quality meat is important with all fish and meat, but most importantly with pork. The high-quality fat in our flavourful pork is quick to prepare and stays juicy and tender longer, so cooking time is less critical. Which is very helpful for novice chefs– letting them prepare amazing meals with no worry, and something even the most experienced chef can appreciate.
