Disconnect! Ways to Spend Quality Time With Your Children

Technology has some amazing benefits, which is why we use it almost every day. However, overuse can affect bonding time with our families, especially with our children. Remember: Technology has a power-off button– and the wisest of us know when to use it.  Below, we provide some of our favorite family activities, helping to promote fun, creativity, and good health — both physical and mental!
Tops Schools provides extensive, factual information, to assist Hong Kong parents with selecting the best local schools for their children. Outdoor Activities
  1. Gor for a hike! Explore nature on one of the many hiking trails at Victoria Peak Garden, filled with views of 1ush tropical forests and extensive birdlife. Grab a copy of The Birds of Hong Kong and South China and take it with you.
  2. Enjoy a picnic at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park— kids have access to a great open area and you can sometimes catch a free yoga class here also.
  3. Try Geocaching! Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Simply sign up (for free) on the Geocaching site, download the app and start hunting. Combine this with a hike and reluctant hikers are instantly transformed.
Indoor Activities
  1. Complete a puzzle together as a family. A good old fashioned jigsaw or can be excellent family bonding time while exercising creative, cognitive and problem-solving skills.
  2. Playing board and card games lead to challenge, laughter and understanding. Most children enjoy them, even more so with their parents!
  3. Treasure Hunt. Similar to geocaching, this indoor version can be a lot of fun for kids — especially if there is a reward involved. Simply write clues on slips of paper and get creative! Place the first clue somewhere easy to find, then leave as many clues as you like – even using the common areas – making a path to the final clue — where to locate their prize!
