Your Guide to Heart-Pumping Cardio on the StairMaster

The StairMaster is one of the most important machines in any gym- offering the best bang for your buck when it comes to stripping the fat and building leg strength. This powerhouse engages your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps and calves. Master the StairMaster at utime Fitness Studios. utime Fitness Studios always focuses on their customers, helping them to achieve their fitness goals by providing state-of-the-art equipment from industry leading brands in cardio, strength, free weight & functional training. Below we’ll share our top tips on how to achieve your best results on the StairMaster. The StairMaster provides both convenience and cardiovascular advantages.
Try Interval Training
Aim for a 20 to 30 minute workout, starting with a 10-minute warm-up to activate your heart and your muscles. Then begin 10 to 15 minutes of intervals. Try a 1:1 ratio of high intensity to recovery (1 minute on, 1 minute off), followed by a cooldown of 5-10 minutes.

Stand up Straight
Watch your posture, and keep that spine straight! This puts strain on your glutes and hamstrings, the right parts of your body, instead of your neck and back.
Heart Rate Monitoring
After you’ve begun training on the StairMaster regularly, start watching how your body is responding. Use a heart rate monitor to track how long it takes your heart rate to return to resting levels post-workout. As your body becomes more fit, you should notice your recovery time decreasing- and this is good!
Add Variety
Stepping forward works your glutes and hamstrings, but if you’d like to focus on your quads this is easily accomplished by turning around and climbing backward. You could also try crossover steps, where your body is turned to the right or left as you step up- this targets your abductors, stabilizers, and gluteus medius.
