Columbo Pride Festival in Sri Lanka: June 2018

This year’s annual Colombo PRIDE Festival is being hosted from 4th June to 24th June and is one of the oldest PRIDE Festivals in South Asia, having first launched in 2005. Sri Lanka, an island country in South Asia, is one of the world’s most scenic countries with deep-rooted cultural heritage. Every year, the Colombo PRIDE allows the marginalised LGBT+ to stand proudly, and unite together to truly celebrate their diversity! Members of the Sri Lanka LGBT+ community have offered to perform cultural dances, as well as being participating as spectators and athletes, at Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022.

Every year since 2005, the Colombo PRIDE Festival has grown in strength and numbers and offers a  diverse range of events. These events include various workshops, dramas, shows, and musicals, along with film festivals, art and photo exhibitions, and lots of fun activities– including parties, a kite festival and much more. The festival is also educational, and continually paves the way for a message of diversity– promoting better understanding and acceptance of the Queer community by the larger Sri Lankan citizenship.
We are proud to welcome and include the Sri Lanka LGBT+ Community and their supporters in both sporting and cultural events at the 2022 Gay Games. We firmly believe that Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 will play an important part in changing public perceptions towards minorities in our society.
