Welcome Back Mr. Thanos Adamopoulos - AYO Violin Coach



All of us at the Asian Youth Orchestra are proud to welcome back Mr. Thanos Adamopoulos this summer, as one of our violin coaches. Belgian violinist and conductor Mr. Adamopoulos is our longest serving artist-faculty member, as well as being a former concertmaster of the Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, Brussels, Conductor at the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and instructor at the Brussels Royal Conservatory. Currently active as a conductor in Europe, the United States, and Asia, Mr. Adamopoulos is music director of the Chapelle de Larranie, a chamber orchestra based in Brussels. We are extremely fortunate to have him on board at the Asian Youth Orchestra, helping to shape and inspire our young students.

The Summer Festival and Performance Tour begins 20 July and runs until 1 September 2019, with performances in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Nanjing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Chiayi City, Seoul, Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Tokyo. Be sure to book your tickets early to avoid disappointment-- you do not want to miss this year's performances!

Program A is lead by Richard Pontzious, conductor, with a special performance by Moné Hattori, violin soloist, and features the following musical selections:
  • Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnol
  • Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor
  • Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade

Program B is lead by Joseph Bastian, conductor, with a special performance by Anna Tsybuleva, piano soloist, and features the following musical selections:
  • R. Strauss: Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks
  • Ravel: Piano Concerto in G
  • Brahms: Symphony No. 4
