Summer Fitness: Quick Workout Ideas From Flodins

It’s summer time in Hong Kong and the days and nights are at their busiest! You can always carve out 5 minutes of your time for some fitness! It’s best if you’re able to take several 5-minute workout breaks throughout the day, because it all adds up. Maybe you think 5 minutes isn’t enough – but it is! Change your mindset; some progress is better than none.

Read on for suggestions on fitting in a 5 minute workout wherever you are, whether it’s simply a busy day at work or your traveling on holiday:

  • Squats and/or Push-ups:  This is a 5-minute total-body workout you can do anywhere no need for any equipment. Try 30 seconds of squats followed by 30 seconds of push-ups and repeat it five times. Didn’t think you could work up a sweat so fast, did you?!
  • Walk and Talk: Make personal or business phone calls more productive- while on the phone, start walking up and down stairs. Also consider taking the stairs instead of the elevator when possible. Tone those legs and get your heart rate up a bit!
  • Split Squat Jumps:  With feet hip-width apart, step the left leg back two feet and balance on the ball of the foot. Next, lower into a lunge, and then accelerate upwards in an explosion of celebration. While in the air, switch feet so that the left foot is planted firmly in front and the right leg is now behind. Repeat 10-12 times on each side. Maybe you can motivate some of your colleagues to join you as well. That little burst of movement can help clear your mind and boost your energy! Think about trying this out before grabbing that afternoon cup of coffee.

  • Plank Time: Hold a plank for 40 seconds, rest for 20 seconds and repeat five times. You can even do this at work if you want to. There are so many different plank variations, it’s easy to mix it up and try five different ones.
