Polestar Pilates Asia CEC Workshops: Rotational Sports

At Polestar Pilates Asia, there is an increasing demand for advanced look at exercises that are designed for people who are involved in rotational sports, such as golf and tennis, as well as those who are simply looking to improve their health and wellness. That demand has been heard, and on April 28, 2018, Polestar Pilates will be addressing this by delivering an advanced 8-hour Pilates course on Rotational Sports, including techniques and exercises designed to keep your client’s muscles healthy while performing these sports.
While this is sure to be exciting news for anyone who is involved in rotational sports, it gets even better, as the Rotational Sports course will be led by Polestar Pilates Senior Educator Alexander Bohlander! In addition, Mr. Bohlander will also be leading Pilates for Men (Healthy and Happy Men), and Introduction to Neurorehabilitation with Pilates, 4 hours each, on Sunday 29 Apr 2018. There will be much to learn on this jam-packed weekend and you will be getting that education from one of the best in the business.
When playing rotational sports, a tremendous amount of strain is placed on many different muscles at the same time. It goes without saying that the risk of serious injury increases when that much strain is placed on so many different muscles. There becomes something of an imbalance that can cause the lesser used muscles to be weaker, and it is often those ones that pay the price for all that extra strain. Pilates is an excellent way to build strength evenly throughout the muscles, while maintaining a balance that will help reduce injury.
Polestar Education’s Rotational Sports course teaches Pilates practitioners to incorporate Pilates exercises into the training/rehabilitation sessions of these athletes to develop greater stability, core control, and range of motion while decreasing fatigue, injuries, and biomechanical issues.
Polestar Pilates Asia offers the perfect opportunities for you to engage in Pilates training from the best educators in the business. We have everything you need– from Gateway courses for personal trainers, Yoga instructors, and physiotherapists looking to add Pilates to their existing repertoire, to advanced CEC courses that will keep your professional Pilates skills updated and fresh, and/or adds additional skills and training to your practice.
Check out our website for more info, then contact your nearest Host Centre to get started.

Dancers love Pilates! Sculpt Long, Lean Muscles at Iso Fit

Group of people practising ballet
Iso Fit, located in Central, Hong Kong, offers high-intensity, low-impact Pilates workouts that are guaranteed to keep you moving and dancing! Pilates is a natural choice for dancers when choosing supplementary training. Why? Their long history together makes them naturally cohesive; they’ve been connected and trained together for a very long time.
During World War 1, Joseph Pilates began creating his movement program, afterwards immigrating to New York City in the 1920s where he connected with the New York City Ballet. Dancers found his method helped them achieve optimal performance and as an added (and important!) benefit, the training helped to reduce the risk of injury.
Dance is a complex movement that requires grace, flexibility and creativity– but also strength, power and endurance. Dance class alone does not provide all of the physical attributes needed to succeed, and supplemental training is essential. This is where Pilates comes in– Pilates focuses on deep core support, pelvic alignment, as well as fluid and controlled movement throughout the body. Dancers also prefer Pilates because it teaches us proper posture, encourages muscle balance and builds support in a whole-body workout that focuses on proper movement. This results in the efficient, fluid, whole body movements that are also essential principles of dance.
The physical demands on a dancer, both in studio practice and on stage, are immense, and careers are very often cut short due to the sheer physical demands. Pilates has helped countless dancers extend their careers by allowing them to build the attributes they need to succeed– physical strength, lean muscle, increased flexibility. It is also not uncommon to see dancers continue with Pilates long after their careers end, with some even choosing to teach it to others.
While dancers greatly benefit from using Pilates to build lean muscle, flexibility and grace,  anyone can enjoy the same benefits by attending Pilates courses at Iso Fit Hong Kong. Iso Fit has a number of options available, including group classes available where you can get in shape and make new friends, and/or individual Pilates lessons, which may be better for those of you looking for one on one advice or just a little privacy in your sessions.

Healthy Pre and Post Workout Habits from utime Fitness

When you want to get in shape, you go to utime Fitness Studio’s, as you know you will have access to the best equipment and training available 24 hours a day. While the gym that you choose for your workouts is incredibly important, what you do before and after your workout has a major impact on your overall results. Pre-workout routines (including what you eat and drink as well as proper stretching and warm up techniques) play a major role in your performance and can help you reach levels that you wouldn’t be able to attain otherwise.
Consistently engaging in physical activity is only one part of obtaining and maintaining good health, good nutrition and sleep, among other factors, are also very important. Building good habits will ensure your muscles recover properly, help you fuel your workouts, and maximize your results. Here are a few good pre and post workout habits to build:
Get Enough Sleep
Getting enough sleep is important both pre and post workout. Sleep helps you stay energised through every lift or sprint, and helps with muscle recovery afterwards. Common sense, right? Well here’s something you may not know: Sleep also keeps your hunger hormones in check, helping to prevent overeating and keeping your fitness goals on track! Seven hours of sleep is recommended per day for adults.
Hydrate
Drinking water, not soda, not beer, not juice– WATER is crucial to overall health and plays an especially important role for fitness buffs. Replenishing your energy! You should be sipping water before, during, and after a workout.
Post-Workout Nutrition
Refuel within 30-45 minutes after your workout with a mixture of carbohydrates and protein.
This window of time is called the ‘anabolic window” and will help your body recover quicker by replenishing glycogen stores and rebuilding muscle. If you skip eating after a workout, you will likely feel ravenous later on and chances are… you won’t reach for a salad. Try packing a post-workout snack or shake in your gym bag for easy convenience.
Questions? Ask any of our friendly staff at utime Fitness Studio for more info or supplement advice– and remember, we’re open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience!
