Roma EuroGames 2019

Thank you Roma #EuroGames2019 for organising and hosting a great event! We look forward to seeing you all at Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022!

The 17th edition of the EuroGames was hosted for the first time in the magical “eternal city”-- Rome! The opening ceremony can only be referred to as majestic, as the world watched in awe as over 4,000 athletes from 55 countries joined together in waving both national and rainbow flags in the parade at the square Colosseum at Eur. Alongside rainbow flags, France, Germany, Spain, and American flags were prevalent, and well received with plenty of applause from their Italian hosts.

The EuroGames were inspired by the Gay Games, hosted in San Fransisco USA in 1986, and promoted by the EGLSF (European Federation of Gay and Lesbian Sports). The EuroGames are meant to provide a safe and inclusive environment, support the European LGBT+ community, and assist with networking and “coming out”. This year’s sporting events included Football, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Swimming, Badminton, Dancing, Golf, Track and Field, Waterpolo, and Hockey, along with several ceremonies, cultural events, conferences, workshops, and more.

For the entire duration of the event, the EuroGames Sport Village was set up to provide an inclusive space to meet fellow athletes-- creating some life-long friendships-- and hosting entertainment, cultural events and music, as well as food and beverage services, and the stands of sponsors and supporting partners.

Just like the Gay Games, the EuroGames is an event open to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, age or athletic ability.

Three Strategies for Entrepreneurs - Stay True to Your Vision.

Are you an entrepreneur or small business owner? Since 1987, Primasia Corporate Services has worked with thousands of overseas and local clients, including entrepreneurs, consultancies, manufacturers, trading firms, and start-ups, helping them to set up successfully in Hong Kong, China, and offshore jurisdictions. That means that for over 30 years we’ve seen what works successfully in the business world… and what doesn’t work.

As an Entrepreneur, you are sometimes referred to as a “dreamer”. And for good reason-- after all it takes a lot of creativity to come up with new ideas, concepts or new methods of achieving the tried and true. It’s essential to take the time to set up a clear business plan of action, conduct market research, gather strategic resources, and finally launch your dream into action. But in today’s saturated business ecosystem you will find fierce competition-- and sometimes this will cause entrepreneurs to lose their vision as they grasp at any straw in order to succeed. Clarity is gone.

It’s your dream, your vision, that sets you apart from your competition. however, and thus you need to be prepared to keep your clarity AND be flexible enough to change when needed. Tall order don’t you agree? Here are three strategies to help you stay true to your vision, even when during setting up your start-up-- and the whirlwind that goes with it:

  1. Hire Energetic People. You will need an endless amount of energy to be a successful entrepreneur, by hiring team members with the same energy and enthusiasm you can draw from one another to reach your shared goals-- a successful company!
  2. Complete Clarity. Ensure that every team member knows your vision, has a complete understanding of your company and goals, and knows exactly what they were hired on to accomplish. Every member of your team should know how their specific tasks help make your vision a reality.
  3. Flexibility. Yes, it’s important to stick to your vision, your core values and mission, but allow room for change. Hopefully you did your research, but even still costs, products, and even your understanding of your target market could need to be adjusted. Adapting to change is essential to company success.

Gay Games Hong Kong: Diversity Arts Festival

In 2022 Hong Kong will be welcoming an estimated 40,000 people-- visitors from all over the world coming to participate and show their support for Gay Games Hong Kong. There are a wide variety of sporting events, 36 to be exact, including for the first time ever in the history of the Gay Games: E-Sports, Dragon Boat Racing, Rugby Sevens and Dodgeball. But the Gay Games go beyond sports, within the rich history of the Gay Games you will find that it was founded for the purpose of spreading the message of diversity and acceptance. Key to meeting these goals is the cultural activities that are of utmost importance to spreading the message of diversity. And as the first Asian city to host the Gay Games, Hong Kong is in a unique position to promote and share it’s cultural heritage with the world! This is why the Diversity Arts Festival is major part of the Gay Games, and why so much hard work and thousands of volunteer hours are going into planning this vital celebration of the region's Arts and Culture.

The Diversity Arts Festival will be supported by two massive art exhibitions, Sunpride Foundation’s “Spectrosynthesis”, Asia’s largest touring LGBT+ contemporary art exhibition; and a new-media exhibition co-curated by Videotage, a Hong Kong-based non-profit promoter of video art. All exhibits will share in the ethos of diversity and inclusion.

"Sunpride Foundation is honoured to be part of Gay Games Hong Kong. We believe in the power of art and its ability to inspire and communicate, especially when the exhibition is hosted in public institutions and museums where we can reach out to the general public. During Gay Games 2022, we plan to collaborate with a public institution to organise an art exhibition that will address gender and LGBTQ issues.”
-Patrick Sun Kai-yit, founder of Sunpride and of its impressive art collection

Since its inception in San Francisco in 1982, the Gay Games has proudly had an arts section dedicated to spreading the message of diversity. And like the sporting contests, it is open to people of all sexual orientations. The Diversity Arts Festival offers opportunities for talented artists of all backgrounds to showcase Asia's cultural talents to the world. This is why there will be an abundance of cultural activities, including a planned 50+ performances (including daily performances at the games village), interactive digital pieces, memorials, satellite events in film, culture, spoken work, theatre, as well as choirs performing during the Gay Games’ opening ceremony at Hong Kong Stadium, and a memorial service that will feature sections of the Gay Games Memorial Quilt, made since 1990 to commemorate people who died of Aids.

So much planning to do and so little time! We urge you to contact us if you’d like to participate in the festival, help with volunteer work, or any other meaningful controbutions to making Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 the best Gay Games ever!
