Brighten Your Daily Commute with Classical Music

Be sure to attend The Asian Youth Orchestra’s Summer Festival, held in Hong Kong from 20 July to 8 August 2019, and Asian Performance Tour with performances in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Nanjing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Chiayi City, Seoul, Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Tokyo from 9 August to 1 September 2019.

Whilst Hong Kong has a highly developed and sophisticated transport network, the average workers commute is about an hour and a half long each day-- mostly due to congestion, traffic, and a recent surge in vehicle ownership. Over time this daily journey can become tiring, fortunately there are many ways to pass the time. If you’re looking for a mental health boost in addition to easing the stress of your everyday commute, listening to classical music may be the way forward for you.

Learn how listening to a bit of Brahms, Chopin, or Morricone while you travel can help:

If you need to be your most productive self, listening to your favorite classical pieces has been shown to lower cortisol levels, thus leading to stress reduction and lower anxiety levels. Studies noted that this was particularly true of selections with
a regular rhythm or low pitch. Three calming pieces you may enjoy listening to are:

Symphony No. 2 – Adagio (iii), Rachmaninov
‘By the Banks of Green Willow’, George Butterworth
At Church’, Slovak Suite, Vítězslav Novák

In addition, listening to classical music has been shown to enhance brain power, as well as productivity. Have you heard of the “Mozart effect”? In a study by the University of Maryland, a group of radiologists reported a sharper memory and increased accuracy when Baroque pieces were played in hospital reading rooms.

With easy access to the internet and a variety of devices to listen from, there’s really never been a better time to brighten up your daily commute with music. Give it a try, and let us know your results! We always love to hear comments from our fans and followers.

Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2019

Dragon Boat Season is here! Local teams have been seen practicing hard on Hong Kong’s waterfront for the largest dragon boat racing event in the world-- all culminating to it’s peak on June 7, 2019 where spectators will gather together to watch the dragon boat races. Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 2022 (GGHK2022) will be the first time the Gay Games has been hosted in Asia and the first time Dragon Boat Racing will be one of the sporting events. This event dates back centuries and is very well known for its energetic and colorful teams of paddlers that race long narrow boats accompanied by the beat of the drum down to the finish line.

If you love a challenge, teamwork, and water, then dragon boat racing is your sport- definitely consider registering for to be part of this sporting event at #GGHK2022. Whether you’re on the water or simply watching, everyone enjoys this sport-- this is a must-attend event for all!

The 2019 Dragon Boat Races in Hong Kong will have at least two very unique teams, The Fierce Dragons and The Dynamos.

The Fierce Dragons in Training

The Fierce Dragon’s are our very own out and proud Dragon Boat team comprised of members from OutinHK, the group organised by Dennis Phillipse, who is also one of the Co-Chairs of the Hong Kong Bid Team that won the rights to host the 2022 Gay Games in Hong Kong. They’ve been out training big time and are prepared to SLAY in 2019, with their eyes firmly on the GOLD after coming home with a Silver Cup the last two years.

You may have seen The Dynamos in a recent South China Morning Post Article, they are Hong Kong’s first and only dragon boat team comprised of domestic helpers. They've overcome enormous difficulties to train each week, on their only day off, attending yoga and strength training classes, as well as learning paddling techniques and more-- working together to build camaraderie, confidence, and self-esteem.

The two highest profile events to attend are:

The Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships in Stanley Main Beach on June 7, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.

The Dragon Boat Carnival: a 3-day event and massive party with live entertainers, marching bands, and lion dances! This year’s event takes place from Friday - Sunday June 14 - 16, 2019 in Victoria Harbour, at the Central Waterfront.

The Dragon Boat Races are a fiercely competitive event, and we are looking forward to attending and cheering the teams to victory!

The ShanghaiPRIDE Fifth Annual Rainbow Bike Ride is Nearly Here!

The ShanghaiPRIDE Festival, an annual festival that celebrates diversity that began in 2009, will be held from the 8th to the 16th of June. But the ShanghaiPRIDE Rainbow Bike Ride is happening this weekend on Sat 18 May! (Click here if you’re interested in registering, but be aware there are very limited spots) The 2019 Rainbow Ride date was selected in order to commemorate May 17th -- International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, otherwise referred to as IDAHOT.

The event is planned to consist of six cycling teams, each one representing one of the six colors from the Rainbow Flag. Each team will depart from a different location, from all corners of Shanghai, ultimately meeting at the Cotton Bar on Xinhua Road to create a colorful display of unity. The organizers of the ShanghaiPRIDE Rainbow Bike Ride would like to invite everyone to join in the celebration at the Cotton Bar at 12:00 noon that day-- even if you are unable to participate in the ride. Please go and show your support!

The proceeds from the Rainbow Ride will be used to organize the 2019 Shanghai Pride Festival. This year’s theme is “Share the Pride”.

The 2019 ShanghaiPRIDE Festival will officially kick off on Saturday, June 8 with the opening night of the Pride Art exhibition. As mainland China’s largest and longest-running Pride festival, it aspires to raise LGBT+ awareness and visibility, as well as to promote self-acceptance and acceptance for the LGBT+ community through sports, cultural, educational, and social activities. This event is entirely organized by volunteers, and includes a Film Festival along with a week full of art, film, discussions, parties and community-building activities.

Please visit the ShanghaiPRIDE Facebook Page and Website for more information.

Dominate Facebook & other Social Media Channels with PRDA’s Content Strategy

Improving engagement is one of the most asked questions among business owners on social media. Everyone wishes to have their content go viral but how many of you are willing to put forth the effort to create the content which can go viral? The truth is very few businesses spend the necessary time needed to create content which resonates with their target customers/users.

Look at giant F&B MNC’s like McDonalds and Coca Cola. Their performance on social media is far below than 100% performance with virtually zero engagement rate despite having millions of fans.

Mistakes in process and measurement become permanent over time and more difficult to identify and change. This leads to a steady path of declining rewards to Fans, employees and the business. It is only through a thorough Digital Audit can a turnaround happen to return Fan Engagement, Employee Empowerment and Business ROI.

We at PRDA not only create social media content which can be posted but all content follow our 5 Steps 4 KPI personalised strategy process to make sure all our clients are successful online.
