The Study of Music




The Asian Youth Orchestra has many wonderful musicians who have achieved so much in the world of music. There is something about music that brings out the best in people,  including creativity and also the many different emotions that are generated when people play or listen to music. There are so many different styles of music and a vast variety of musical instruments to choose from!

Now, there is a big difference between studying music and listening to music. Studying music has to do with learning how to create music either for yourself or for others. The benefits of studying music are arguably more than the benefits of actually listening to it.

Focus

Studying music requires great concentration. One would need to listen to every beat, every tiny sound and this is because each tiny sound combines together to create the music. A missing beat can wreak havoc on the entire song!
Music requires practice and the more practice a student of music makes, the more focus one develops. And focus, when applied to any venture, leads to success.

Coordination

In music, coordination means using the parts of the body to work effectively together to create music. 7th Annual China AIDS Walk : Beijing


Sunshine and blue skies supplied an amazing day for a steep hike on the Great Wall of China! The 7th annual China AIDS Walk took place on September 15th, 2018, where several hundred people attended to raise money and public awareness about HIV/AIDS, as well as to eliminate stigma and discrimination. Douglas White, Director of Business Development and Social Media for Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 was in attendance saying ‘It is a joy to be even a small part of their great effort.”  

Although medical treatment is paid free of charge by the government, stigma limits social progress. Attendees band together to hike the Great Wall and learn about the vital work that LGBT+ organizations are doing across China to educate and advocate for people with HIV/AIDS.  With a population of 1.4 billion, this is no small task!
 
 
The goals of the 2018 China AIDS Walk included:
  • Reaching out to 2,000 people and sharing with them the updated information on the prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS in China.
  • Raising CNY 700,000 for the operation of the project and organizing various activities for the community, including advocacy & public education, small grants and HAILS training, and to support community-led HIV/AIDS initiatives throughout China.
  • To motivate at least 200 people to join together to create a memorable and meaningful Great Wall day-hike!

Why do we care about HIV/AIDS and our community?
AIDS has become a controllable, preventable and manageable chronic disease, while HIV can be effectively suppressed in the body. What's more, research on HIV cure and vaccine has shown promising results.

Unfortunately misunderstanding and discrimination is still very prevalent in the Chinese community. People living with HIV experience difficulties every day-- especially when they try to see a doctor, apply for a job, or go to school. These difficulties not only damage the physical and mental health of people living with HIV, but also jeopardize the prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS.

We must work together to raise HIV/AIDS awareness and fight to eliminate social stigma and discrimination in our local communities!

HeliServices and HKU SPACE 2018 Summer Collaboration offers Helicopter Flying Experience for Graduating Aviation Students


Heliservices has collaborated once again with HKU SPACE to offer local students the opportunity to learn about the Hong Kong helicopter industry and experience flying in a real helicopter-- seeing Hong Kong from a new perspective flying high above the bustling city and busy people. Heliservices and HKU SPACE served students and teachers on the 25th of August 2018, assisting in completing a course subject titled: “Certificate in Aviation Studies (Senior Secondary Applied Learning)”. We offer this course as part of our ongoing dedication and social responsibility to support local students that have a passion for the aviation industry-- particularly for helicopters!

Heliservices has been working with HKU SPACE to host this course for four years running now, beginning in the Summer of 2014.  Our aim is to support and assist local youngsters interested in Hong Kong’s aviation industry, by offering many of them their first real life helicopter experience!

Students have the opportunity to speak with experienced pilots and learn about the business from “the ground up”during our hangar orientation. In addition our experienced aviation experts offer an introduction to the business strategy that Heliservices follows with emphasis on past, current, and future projects and strategies.
