Asian Youth Orchestra audition results will be announced before 31 March. Applicants will receive notification by email no later than 10 April.
Auditions have ended and we are busy selecting the talented, hardworking
individuals who will be awarded the chance of a lifetime! A full
scholarship program study under the magical batons of AYO Founder
Richard Pontzious and the sensational Joseph Bastian, along with an
exceptional artist-faculty of principals hailing from the Baltimore,
Boston, Hong Kong and Minnesota orchestras, as well as, the Bergamo
Festival Orchestra (Italy), Milan's La Scala Opera, La Fenice Teatro
Venice, Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, Brussels’ Monnaie Opera, the Leipzig
Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestra Della Radio Svizzera Italiana, and
the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
The 2019 AYO Tour will take our selected musicians to 11 Asian cities,
including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing, Tianjin, Beijing, Taipei, Chiayi
City, Kumamoto, Fukuoka, Tokyo, and for the first time over 10 years,
Seoul, Korea.
Joining the 2019 AYO tour is awards winning violinist Mone Hattori and
Hong Kong pianist Rachel Cheung. Mone Hattori is sure to dazzle
audiences with her performance of the Bruch Violin Concerto #1 in G
minor. We are also fortunate to have the talented Rachel Cheung step in
for Anna Tsybuleva, who was scheduled to return to be part of AYO 2019
after a hugely successful tour with AYO last year. Rachel will be
playing Ravel piano concerto in G under conductor Joseph Bastian.
The Asian Youth Orchestra Summer
Festival will be held in Hong Kong from 20 July to 8 August 2019. The
Asia Tour Performance Schedule will immediately follow from 9 August to 1
