Business Success: Expanding into the Chinese Market

Are you ready to expand your business into the thriving Chinese market? Or maybe you are an entrepreneur ready to cash in on the world's largest and fastest-growing e-commerce market? There are plenty of opportunities in China’s 600 billion dollar industry for companies that act quickly!

Primasia Corporate Services is your e-commerce partner in China. We offer China e-commerce solutions which can help you find the most suitable online sales platforms for your business, assist with account set-up and management, as well as with logistics and after-sales management services. Those wanting to enter into the Chinese market successfully MUST do their research, everything from having the correct messaging service app on your smartphone, to cross-checking your business plans against the five-year plan of the Communist Party, to knowing what your target consumer likes are important steps to success. Otherwise, you may be setting yourself up for a quick exit. Studies show that the difficulties small and medium businesses frequently have with their Chinese partners are caused by lack of understanding of three main things-- the local laws, the consumer market, and social and cultural context.

When setting up your company in China, here are three things to keep in mind:

Geography
You need to know who you are targeting, where, and what dialect is best. Did you realize that 44% of China's population lives in rural areas? In addition the country has more than 60 different distinct dialects, meaning you NEED to select the correct language dialect in order to communicate with your target audience. When starting a business in China, you very well may want to hire a local expert who can explain the specific conditions and characteristics of the region you are looking to enter.

Digital technology
Online services are used actively by 600 million Chinese people, in comparison to 250 million in the US.  Chinese online platforms sell Boeing airplanes, luxury goods, and just about everything. Email is rarely used by Chinese businessmen and women, WeChat is primarily used in its stead and is much more than a communication tool-- it is widely accepted as an ID. You can pay for goods, balance your accounting books, or order service with WeChat and the messages can be used as evidence in court. As your company enters the Chinese market be sure to have a good understanding of its unique digital infrastructure.

Knowledge of the basic requirements of setting up a business in China
This is helpful for those looking into starting a Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise in China. These businesses will need to submit the following:
  • Articles of Incorporation for the investor entity
  • Copies of applicable business licenses
  • A certificate of good standing
  • A description of the investor entity’s business activities, along with supporting documents
  • A bank approval letter
These documents will also need to be provided in Chinese, meaning you will have to have them translated.

An Incredible Weekend of Sevens Rugby at Hong Kong Stadium!

So, I’m sure you’ve heard the Hong Kong Sevens 2019 results: Fiji beat France to win historic fifth title in a row. It was incredible, the entire Hong Kong Stadium erupted when Tuimaba ran almost the length of the pitch for Fiji’s first score. The atmosphere, the fabulous spectacle of costumed fans in the stands - and even outside of them! Hardcore rugby fan or casual observer… the event offically known as the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is absolutely awesome, even if you’re outside the South Stand.

A glorious weekend of Sevens Rugby at Hong Kong Stadium is tremendous fun for thousands of fans as they scream out their lungs for their fave teams. But the benefits far exceed the stadium boundaries-- the annual Hong Kong Sevens tournament benefits the whole city!

What you may not know:
Every year, the 40,000 tickets to watch inside the stadium are snapped up quicker than you can say Livai Ikanikoda.

Each day during the tournament, over 40,000 fans descend upon Hong Kong Stadium.

The economic impact of this is HUGE. Market research reports from the 2017 Hong Kong Sevens puts the economic impact HK$380 million for the city, largely due to overseas visitors, who make up more than half of the crowd.

Local restaurants, pubs and other businesses see a substantial boost in customers during the tournament, approximately a 20 percent increase in sales-- for some this event could make or break their business.

The market research reports from the 2017 Hong Kong Sevens also estimates that each overseas visitor spends about HK$19,000 on local businesses during their stay, which includes hotels, taxis, restaurants, entertainment, shopping and booze.
Pretty impressive huh?

Now put this knowledge towards the 2022 Gay Games, hosted for the very first time in Asia, by Hong Kong. Here’s a few things to mull over:

The 2018 Paris Gay Games set a record high attendance with 10,317 participants from 91 countries.

The 2022 Hong Kong Gay Games are expected to attract over 15,000 participants and add over one billion HK dollars (€108 million) to the local economy.

Our Hong Kong team is  planning big to ensure that the 2022 Gay Games will become a trailblazer for increased progress in diversity and inclusion in the world’s most populous region.

The Gay Games will make positive long-term impacts on Hong Kong’s overall well-being, as well as LGBT+ rights, long after the games have ended.

The benefits of hosting the Gay Games will reach far and wide-- beyond the Hong Kong borders, across Asia and have worldwide impact.

About us:
Hong Kong is the first Asian city to host the Gay Games, the world’s biggest international sporting and cultural event for all, in 2022. Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 will be an empowering experience for LGBT+ athletes and supporters from across Asia, in addition to welcoming visitors from around the world, to participate in a variety of sporting and cultural events.

Temperatures are rising… Time for a new Summer Suit!

Summer is here once again and it’s time to order yourself a new summer suit, trousers, shirts and other bespoke garments. At La Elite Fashions, we have a wide variety of lightweight and comfortable fabrics available that our experienced tailors will transform into a perfectly fitted summer suit. You will love the way you look AND still stay moderately cool despite the summer weather.

It’s time to ditch the hot and heavy tweed, wool and cashmere suit and opt for a light weight material like Linen, Cotton, and/or Chambray. By selecting a lightweight material, your new suit will keep you cooler in the summer weather. We also recommend you ask your bespoke tailor for an unlined or half lined suit, which will allow for more ventilation and coolness.

Here are some details to help you select the correct fabric for you, but as always, please discuss this with our tailors-- we are always happy to make recommendations! Click here to read the full article.
