IDAHOT 2018: International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

May 17th, The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, aka IDAHOT, is an important day for Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 and the whole LGBT+ community! Be sure to attend the IDAHOT Love not Hate at Chater Garden event on Saturday, May 12 at 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM GMT+08. All attendees will be able to enjoy speakers from the EOC Chairman, Trans and Intersex activists.
IDAHOT was first established in 2004 to bring awareness to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBT+ people internationally every day. May 17 was chosen to commemorate when the WHO removed Homosexuality from its global index of mental disorders– May 17, 1990. Since then, May 17th has become one of the most important dates for LGBT+ communities and is now celebrated in over 130 countries. This important date, May 17th, is now globally recognized as the day to promote and mobilize LGBT+ movements on a worldwide scale in support of the recognition of human rights for all, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
Every year the global LGBT+ community recognizes one specific focus issue for the celebrations around May 17th. This year’s selected IDAHOT theme is “Alliances for Solidarity”, an opportunity to unite together to strengthen our bond and together, raise awareness of sexual and gender minorities. By uniting together we can strengthen our alliances, helping to ensure the safety of our community, promote positive changes, lobby for legal advancements and fight to change hearts and minds– raising awareness of our humanity and commonalities. Together we are strong!

Facebook Video Does a Tony Stark! Toss it up on most any device!

Facebook Video takes another step into your living room and life! A little known feature of Facebook video is its ability to, from your mobile device, send a video to your smart TV. This feature is not new, but has not been played up by Facebook. It rivals YouTube in its clarity and is so much simpler to use. What Facebook video lacks is that there are no playlists or next video options. Since Facebook does not organize media or have a robust search feature it is not the ideal way to play a video or stream a music playlist, but it is easy and wonderful to watch all the videos that stream across your news feed with full screen and full sound experience. This feature currently appears to only be available for native videos. Native videos are videos that are filmed on Facebook or uploaded directly to Facebook; no links from other sources (3rd parties).
Facebook was dead set to win the against YouTube for having the most video views, and they won that, more or less, but it seems that along the way they started to build a number of robust features to ensure success and maybe take it further. But Facebook has never been good at having a long attention span and after achieving more video views than YouTube, sort of, they seem to have lost interest and have now moved onto other things.
Much success,
Doug

Hong Kong Business Culture

Hong Kong is an amazing place to live and work, with a business culture that is very entrepreneurial and filled with dynamic & hard-working people who take great pride in their work. It is a great place to do business and an ideal location for anyone looking to set up a new company. For example the recent launch of Cognatio Law, by NewLaw industry veteran Lesley Hobbs, came about to satisfy growing demand within Hong Kong’s business community for flexible and cost effective legal consultancy services.
Hong Kong business culture is relatively straightforward, but below we will walk you through some tips and discuss how to navigate everyday working life in this island city:
Punctuality and preparation are very important. By showing up on time and being fully prepared you are demonstrating to your colleagues and business partners that you value, and respect, their time.
In Hong Kong it is customary to exchange business cards when greeting business partners. Handshakes are generally a Western concept, and while not usually refused (no one wishes to be impolite), they are not customary and are probably the acceptable limit of physical contact between business acquaintances.
Learn patience. Hong Kong is an extremely fast-paced city, but when it comes to business negotiations you will need to learn patience. It may take some time for parties to agree terms, and it is not culturally acceptable or polite to put pressure on your Chinese business partners during the negotiation process.
As you can see, demonstrating respect is therefore vital when conducting business in Hong Kong and across Asia in general.
Since Hong Kong’s handover to China in 1997 the city has evolved significantly,  now boasting one of the most iconic skylines in the world, one of the smoothest running and fastest transportation systems (known as the MTR), and has very much grown in to its own since its establishment as a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) under the “One Country, Two Systems” principle. The massive population and density of the buildings can sometimes become a bit overwhelming, but fortunately there are many places to which to escape such as hiking the many nature trails or spending a day at one of the beaches. Hong Kong is full of hidden gems and, thanks to the MTR, it is usually a quick and easy journey to reach them. Making friends in Hong Kong is also surprisingly easy and you will find the vast majority of people here open and welcoming. A little bit of effort obviously also goes a long way.

Lord Coe endorses #GGHK2022 at Britcham!

Lord Sebastian Coe just endorsed Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 at the The British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong as a positive example of the recent effort to encourage gender equality and inclusion in sports! This is high praise indeed from a four time Olympic Medal Winner– who was also instrumental in bringing the Olympics to London in 2012– as well as current President of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), and Executive Chairman of CSM Sport & Entertainment. CSM Sport & Entertainment is also a supporter and partner of Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022.
“Coe expressed that, whilst sport has changed a lot, there is still a long way to go. Sport needs to appeal to the young, it needs to encourage gender equality and inclusion (the Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 is an important example of this effort), and it needs to have a clear vision to attract good brands and maintain momentum.”

Lord Coe joined The British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in order to discuss the impact and advances in sports over the last few years. Technology and Social Media in particular have been a significant factors in how sports are perceived and the impact they have on our communities. For example, the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics saw more tweets than entire Beijing Olympics in 2008.
We’d like to again thank Lord Coe for hosting this inspiring event at Britcham and being so welcoming to #GGHK2022. Your words resonated and are remembered.

Lord Coe endorses our client, #GGHK2022, at Britcham!

Lord Sebastian Coe just endorsed PRDA client, Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022, at the recent British Chamber of Commerce event in Hong Kong as a positive example of the recent effort to encourage gender equality and inclusion in sports! He also credits social media as being a major contributing factor in how sports are perceived and the impact they have had on our communities over the last decade. For example, the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics saw more tweets than entire Beijing Olympics in 2008!
Lord Sebastian Coe is a four time Olympic Medal Winner, who was also instrumental in bringing the Olympics to London in 2012, as well as the current President of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), and Executive Chairman of CSM Sport & Entertainment.  He was a truly an inspired speaker with a wide and varied experience to share. His recognition of the importance of technology and sports, trust and accountability and the need for sports to be literally built into the physicality of our cities to inspire health and community were great insights.
As part of Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022’s (#GGHK2022) all volunteer team, the social media experts at PRDA assisted them in getting over 36,000 Facebook followers, and 13,000 Instagram followers with a monthly reach of over 1.5 million fans! In China, the #GGHK2022 Sina Weibo winning announcement post had over 67,000 readings! Utilizing Social Media to its fullest, along with heavy preparation and many many meetings offline, was a major contributing factor to winning the bid to host the 2022 Gay Games.
It’s now been over a year since PRDA, Asia’s leading social media agency, was asked to join Gay Games Hong Kong 2022’s team, and it’s been an incredible journey. We are so proud to have been part of their success! We are still preparing daily social media content for #GGHK2022 using Douglas White’s, PRDA Founder and Business Director, proven  5-4-3-2-1, 4 KPI’s methodology of Social Media Marketing.
