Asian Youth Orchestra has maintained its reputation for being the world-class orchestra of 100 energetic young artists from across Asia. Every student is of special importance to the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYOHK) as they’re trained directly under the supervision of artistic director and conductor, Richard Pontzious, to perform on a global platform. These gems are picked from all over Asia to join AYOHK on their musical journey across the globe!

Gay Games Hong Kong 2022 was very proud to be the guests of honor at the Third Anniversary Party of the Hong Kong Gay and Lesbian Attorneys Network (HKGALA) hosted by Linklaters.  HKGALA is the first and leading Hong Kong organization dedicated to promoting LGBT diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. The 34,000 raised at HKGALA’s Third Anniversary Party Sponsored by Linklaters went toward supporting Hong Kong's bid for the Gay Games in 2022. Founded in San Francisco in 1982, the Gay Games are the world's largest sporting and cultural event led by LGBT athletes, artists, and musicians!

#PorkArt Campaign Recap: Huge Success!

We were totally wowed by the many amazing #PorkArt entries submitted! Flodins, the premium brand of HKScan- leading Nordic meat experts, sparked the imaginations of both professional and home chefs across Hong Kong. From May 15th- 26th 2017, #PorkArt encouraged locals to post photos of beautifully crafted pork dishes to Facebook or Instagram and the response was just incredible! There are so many ways to enjoy pork, whether on the grill, sous-vide, fried or slow-roasted, as well as flavored in so many ways, achieving a variety of truly delicious results.

This beautifully plated #PortArt entry is by Jaakko Sorsa, executive chef of FINDS- Hong Kong’s first and foremost Nordic Restaurant located in Tsim Sha Tsui. Slow-roasted Omega-3 pork belly served with root celery puree, pickled carrots, sauteed kale, lingonberries and tarragon sauce. (Lingonberries are a vibrant red fruit, widely available throughout Scandinavia, and known for their tart juiciness)

Amazingly tender #PorkArt submission from Jim Löfdahl, Nordic Chef of the newly opened Frantzen’s Kitchen. Roasted Omega-3 pork belly with carrot hot-sauce, pumpkin and dried kale with roasted garlic.

This gorgeous #PorkArt entry is from Michael Bolam, executive chef at 208 Duecento Otto, one of Hong Kong's best Italian Restaurants! Maple-glazed pork chop with Italian slaw.

Love this vibrant #PorkArt photo from Sweetie Mama! She loves making yummy + healthy meals for her family, and submitted their favorite  “Tomato Pork Chop” dish. The vibrant colors of the different vegetables along with tender Nordic pork makes this delicious dish amazingly healthy and nutritious.

Like every year, Asian Youth Orchestra presents concert-goers with enchanting performances at the AYOHK Summer Festival in Hong Kong. This year, the Summer Festival will be held in Hong Kong from 2-24 July. The Tour Repertoire consists of Program A and B, which will be led by Richard Pontzious and the principal conductor James Judd. Under their guidance, musical masterpieces from famous musicians will be experienced in the orchestra, such as Beethoven, Shostakovich, Bruch, and Mahler among others.

After the Summer Festival, the Asian Youth Orchestra will bring out its series of performances in the form of the World Tour Performance, which is scheduled from July 25th to September 5th. AYO is expected to perform in Beijing, Hong Kong, Chiayi City, Tokyo, San Jose, Vienna, North Carolina, New York, Milan, Bassano del Grappa, Toulouse (France), Spain, Naples, Luzern, Berlin, Prague, and Brussels. It is a guarantee that the audience will highly be entertained by the masters at these concerts.

Every year the orchestra draws together the best young classical-music players from across the region in Hong Kong for a series of workshops and concerts in the city and elsewhere, featuring violin soloists Sarah Chang, Vadim Repin, Jan Mráček and piano soloist Gerhard Oppitz.
