Asian Youth Orchestra 2018 Audition Announcement

The Asian Youth Orchestra invites all aspiring musicians across Asia, ages 17-27, to the upcoming 2018 auditions. Since its inaugural concerts in 1990, the award-winning Asian Youth Orchestra has played over 400 concerts in Asia, Europe, the US and Australia to an audience of more than one million concertgoers. Millions more around the world have seen and heard the orchestra on CNN, CNBC, NHK, RTHK Hong Kong, and Star TV. Every year the Asian Youth Orchestra is proud to present an opportunity to all the young artists around Asia to join them in their annual three-week international concert tour with celebrated conductors and solo artists. This is an opportunity for you to leave a powerful contribution to Asia’s cultural landscape.



The commitment of the Asian Youth Orchestra to music education extends beyond the instruction and education that they provide to the qualified individuals. They serve as a resource for their students that will maximize their learning curriculum, shaping the minds of today’s youth to become leaders of the future.

The 100 members of the Asian Youth Orchestra are chosen from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. After performing during highly competitive auditions held throughout the region, the chosen musicians are together for six weeks each summer, initially for a three-week Rehearsal Camp in Hong Kong, then for a three-week international concert tour with celebrated conductors and solo artists.

Qualification and Requirements for the Potential Candidate

  • The applicants should be 17-27 years old
  • Candidates are required to possess a permanent residency in an Asian country.
  • You must be able to play an orchestral excerpt or a piece of a composition of your choice fluidly at the auditions.
