#Paris2018 Gay Games: #TeamAsia Highlights


 
The 2018 Paris Gay Games 10 was the world's largest sports and cultural event, setting a record high attendance with 10,317 participants from 91 countries! The Gay Games have grown tremendously since being founded by Dr. Thomas F. Waddell, an Olympic decathlete, in 1982 which included 1,350 athletes in 17 sports. #Paris2018 was simply spectacular, an amazing experience for all participants, their supporters, and fans from around that world that cheered alongside. A life-changing experience, showcasing above all a commitment to #AllEqual. A true triumphant of inclusion, participation and giving your personal best.

We are incredibly grateful for the experience and memories we will never forget. Huge thank you to our Paris hosts for an amazing Gay Games Paris 2018, including a wonderful closing ceremony where we were honored and humbled to be receiving the hosting rights for Gay Games 11. We look forward to welcoming you all to the 2022 Gay Games in Hong Kong!

Our Hong Kong Mixed Volleyball team, the Cheers!, defeated Thailand in the final and brought home the Gold! Well done, #TeamHongKong!

Sean Au, Singapore's sole representing athlete, took home Gold in Pole Vault, Gold in two multinational relays, Silver in Retro Running, and Bronze in a third multinational relay. Outstanding work, #TeamAsia!

A huge congratulations to the Philippines, who sweep the Show Dance competition taking home the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals! Pictured are  gold medalists Zach Vargas and Neil Murat's from the Gold Medal winning performance. Stunning work, #TeamAsia!

Congratulations to Li Xinyuan, who represented China in table tennis, taking home Gold in Women's Singles, Silver in Mixed Doubles, and Bronze in Women's doubles! Well done, #TeamAsia!

The Gay Games, the world’s most inclusive sporting event, kicked off this year on August 4th in Paris, France with more than 10,000 participants from around the world. As part of Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022’s (#GGHK2022) team, PRDA, Asia’s leading social media agency, was there to deliver social media success over eight popular social media platforms in seven languages with 2,000,000 views over 10 days. More people saw Gay Games 10 in Paris through GGHK2022’s social media channels than any other single source!

60th Anniversary of The International Tchaikovsky Competition

The Asian Youth Orchestra, Asia's premier pre-professional orchestra, is dedicated educating Asia’s brightest young musicians by offering exceptional opportunities for study and performance in an international environment. The 2015 Tchaikovsky Violin Competition Winner Benny Tseng Yu-Chien is currently touring with AYO in Hong Kong, mainland China, Philippines, Taiwan and Japan, playing the Barber violin concerto from 3 to 26 August 2018. Celebrating 60 years in 2018, The International Tchaikovsky Competition has been a major international event in the music community. The International Tchaikovsky Competition is held once every four years and includes competitions in Piano, Violin, Cello and a Vocal division. A fifth discipline was added in 1990, a contest for violin makers which is held before the main competitions.

Polestar Pilates Asia: Gateway for Movement and Fitness Professionals


Established in 2002, Polestar Pilates Asia is an organization that provides Pilates education to movement and fitness professionals. Pilates courses are held at different host sites in Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau, China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines.

The Polestar Pilates curriculum, designed by Physiotherapist and Orthopedic Certified Specialist Brent Anderson, is based on a scientific foundation, as opposed to an anecdotal one. The Leeds International Piano Competition


The Asian Youth Orchestra, Asia's premier pre-professional orchestra, is dedicated educating Asia’s brightest young musicians by offering exceptional opportunities for study and performance in an international environment. Currently the 2015 Leeds International Piano Competition 1st prize winner Anna Tsybuleva is performing with AYO in Hong Kong, mainland China, Philippines, Taiwan and Japan, playing the Rachmaninoff Variations on a Theme of Paganini, from 3 to 26 August 2018. The Leeds Piano Competition is one of the world’s foremost music competitions. Founded in 1963 the yearly competition has attracted talented pianists from across the globe, due to the outstanding opportunities offered. These include  the challenge of demanding repertoire, a stellar panel of judges and, of course, an exceptional prize package- First prize is awarded £25,000 and The Dame Fanny Waterman Gold Medal. In 2018 the Leeds International Piano Competition has spread its wings with first round competitions in Berlin, New York and Singapore. Locally, the first annual Leeds Piano Festival has taken place and partnerships have been built and strengthened.
The founder of The Leeds was local piano teacher and former concert pianist, Fanny Waterman, where in 1963 the first Competition was won by Michael Roll before a jury chaired by Sir Arthur Bliss. Other renowned pianists who have won the competition includes Radu Lupu(1969) and Murray Perahia(1972), Mitsuko Uchida and Sir Andras Schiff (1975), Peter Donohoe (1981), Louis Lortie (1984), Lars Vogt (1990), Denis Kozhukhin (2006) and Louis Schwizgebel (2012).
