ShanghaiPride



As you all know-- it's currently PRIDE Week in Shanghai, which all of us at Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 are proud to support! This mainland China’s largest city, hosting it’s 11th annual festival celebrating diversity as well as raising LGBT+ awareness and acceptance, This year it runs from the 8th to the 23rd of June. The ShanghaiPride festival is much more than bright face paint and rainbow athletics socks, it's a chance to support Pride and the LGBT+ community-- which is very important! But yes, it's also a lot of fun! If you haven’t already, we urge you to go out and join in on the festivities before it’s too late.

The ShanghaiPride festival features more than 40 individual events, including the Pride Art exhibition, a Pink Brunch followed by a Pink Party, Pride Talk, a trivia night, the ShPRIDE Film Festival (which played a three-hour feast of LGBT+ films at the British Centre, including five short films and one feature documentary) and much more. This event is entirely organized by volunteers, and is a huge undertaking! These volunteers work from the heart to provide the LGBT+ community and supporters with a wonderful festival experience full of art, film, discussions, parties and community-building activities. Each year they aspire to raise LGBT+ awareness and visibility, as well as to promote self-acceptance and acceptance for the LGBT+ community through sports, cultural, educational, and social activities.



Fan facts: In 2014, the ShanghaiPRIDE team was awarded “Shanghai Hero” by Time Out Shanghai and in 2018 they were awarded the “Best Event Organizer in East China” by Huodongxing.

Facebook: People over 55 are the Fastest-growing Demographic

Facebook celebrated its 15th birthday this year, and this popular social media platform is starting to show its age. People over 55 are now the fastest-growing demographic using -and joining- Facebook, as teens and young adults ditch Mark Zuckerberg’s social network in favor of Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter. According to a UK report, only 2.2 million 12- to 17-year-olds and 4.5 million 18- to 24-year-olds will regularly use Facebook in 2048-- this is a decrease of 700,000 from 2017. The largest growth this year is found in the older population, with 500,000 new over-55s expected to join Facebook. This will result in over 6.4 million 55 to 65-year-olds, or older, regular Facebook users this year! Literally the biggest demographic except for 16- to 34-year-olds.

In the US, June is widely celebrated as LGBT+ Pride Month in recognition of the Stonewall Riots which took place on June 28th 1969-- making this the 50th anniversary of this important celebration!.= Throughout the month of June people in cities across the Nation come together to show support for LGBT+ rights, culture, and their local communities.

Bravo Fierce Dragons for Bringing Home GOLD!




The annual 3-day weekend known as the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival began on June 7, 2019 this year-- taking place right on Victoria Harbour and jam-packed with hot dragon boat action! The festival is of course most well-known for its energetic and colorful dragon boat races and can be a fiercely competitive event, with hours upon hours of practice for the challengers involved. For spectators and onlookers this is a very entertaining and exciting experience-- and very crowded! For the Fierce Dragons though, it was well worth the grueling practices as their hard work paid off and they won 7th place out of 50 teams! The Fierce Dragons are Hong Kong’s first LGBT+ Dragon Boat Team, started by members of Out in HK which is the team behind winning the bid to host Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022.

We have more exciting news for you! We have now confirmed the 36 sporting events that will be part of the first Gay Games in Asia, Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022. For the first time ever in the history of the Gay Games: E-Sports, Dragon Boat Racing, Rugby Sevens and Dodgeball will be included in the final sports list. The finalized list has been released and includes a wide variety of Aquatic Sports, Athletics Sports, Ballgames Sports, Cross-disciplinary Sports, Racquet Sports, Mat Sports, Water sports.

Short-Form vs Long-Form Social Media Content

When did you first open your Pilates studio, TT Pilates?
We opened our doors in 2013, T.T. Pilates is proud to be the first Pilates studio opened in Xiamen.

Why did you open TT Pilates? What were your reasons?
I opened my studio because no one knew about Pilates at the time and I thought it was a great form of exercise that should be shared with others. My goal was and is to raise the awareness of Pilates in China.

How do you feel about the Pilates market in China? Is it growing?
The Pilates market in China is exploding like a volcano! I strongly believe that in the next five to ten years there will be more and more people learning about and studying Pilates.
