Why You Should Listen More To Classical Music

Is it true that listening to classical music is actually good for you? Yes, classical music does
have many benefits for both our mental and physical health. It can stimulate the brain,
improve sleep, reduce stress and also strengthen the immune system. Be sure to book time in
your schedule this summer to attend The Asian Youth Orchestra’s world tour, with stunning
performances hosted in Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Taiwan and Japan from 3 - 26
August 2018. Here are a few of the top reasons why you should be listening to more classical
music than you have been:
Classical Music Soothes Anxiety
Listening to classical music will give your mind a calming effect, and therefore you will be
able to get relief from whatever is causing you anxiety. Counselors and therapists often will
advise you to play classical music if you or a relative are having anxiety attacks. If you have
watched or attended award ceremonies, you are likely to notice that classical music takes over
the waves to create a good atmosphere for the attendees as they are awaiting the winning
announcement.

Classical Music Boosts Your Brain Power
Listening to a classical music performance before going into your exams room may help in
improving test performance. Several scientific types of research have been conducted to
prove the effectiveness of classical music on your brain, known as the Mozart Effect. While
studying the Mozart effect, the students have been able to memorize and remember better
what they learnt while listening to classical music.

Classical Music Improves Physical Performance
For those who participate in physical exercise, classical music is a good performance
improvement measure, as the person will be able to concentrate on what they are doing at the
physical fitness centers.  Classical music also assists in lowering blood pressure and can help
you eat less! Playing soft music and dimming lights in dining areas has been found to help
people enjoy their food more, eat slower and lower appetite.

Classical Music Helps You Sleep Better
Classical music is wonderful for the purposes of relaxing body and mind before sleep. For
mothers, it is a good soothing tool that will allow the child to sleep faster in most cases.

Be sure to set aside time this summer to enjoy the Asian Youth Orchestra’s summer festival
or concerts and have your mind blown away! The AYO Summer Festival will be held  from
14 July to 3 August 2018 and the Asian Tour from 3 - 26 August 2018. Stay updated by

Celebrate Chinese New Year with Lucky Pork Dumplings

Chinese New Year, or the Lunar New Year, is a time to gather with your family, honor
ancestors, and share a feast with food that symbolizes prosperity in the coming year. Serving
pork symbolizes strength, wealth, and blessings-- and it’s important during the biggest
holiday of the year to enjoy a feast full of hope and positive vibes. For your celebration, share
the best, high quality pork on the Hong Kong market with your loved ones-- Scan’s
flower-fed pork raised on small Nordic farms. For a simple, yet delicious meal, try our Lucky
Pork Dumpling recipe below-- this chinese pork recipe can even be made into soup if desired.

Get out your broom and sweep away the past: The Year of the Dog begins 16, February 2018.

Lucky Pork Dumplings

Ingredients:
450 grams Scan Flower-fed Pork-- ground
1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
1 clove minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 cup chopped green onions
Vegetables of your choice (Chinese cabbage, bean sprouts)
1-2 packages of dumpling wrappers

Directions:
1. Add all dumpling ingredients into a large bowl except for the wonton wrappers. Mix
thoroughly.

2. Set out wonton wrappers, prepare a small bowl of cool water for sealing edges. Start
heating a pot of salted water. Work on step 3 while salted water comes to a boil.

3. Spoon about 1 1/2 tablespoons filling in wonton wrapper. With fingertips, lightly wet edges
with water. Firmly pinch edges. Repeat until all filling has been used.

4. Place dumplings in salted boiling water, and cook gently for about 10 minutes. Drain, then
run cool water over your cooked dumplings to avoid sticking.

If you’d rather make soup, heat chicken broth instead of salted water. Add the pork
dumplings to boiling chicken broth and cook until done. Serve dumplings in broth garnished
with chopped parsley or vegetables as desired.

New Tech Introduced at PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics

Exciting days are ahead for PyeongChang, South Korea as they prepare for major
international multi-sport events including the XXIII  Olympic Winter Games (commonly
known as PyeongChang 2018), taking place from 9 to 25 February 2018 and then will be
preparing for the XII Paralympic Winter Games taking place 9-18 March 2018. The Winter
Games are a unique stage on which the world’s best athletes can achieve superior
performances. Pride House International will also be at PyeongChang 2018, hosted for the
first time ever in Asia. Pride House is a venue welcoming LGBT+ athletes, fans, and their
allies during large-scale international sporting events.

We at Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 are excited to see PyeongChang 2018’s vision come
to life, offering a legacy of new growth and new innovations at this year’s Winter Olympics.
Here’s a few of the new tech that is being introduced at PyeongChang 2018:

5G broadband speeds
South Korea is known for already having the fastest broadband speeds in the world (Hong
Kong ranks 3rd, behind Ireland) and connectivity will be further boosted at PyeongChang
2018 by Intel’s introduction of a 5G mobile network (which delivers download speeds of
100Mbps) at games venues. The tech giant is planning to show off the capabilities of its
enormous mobile bandwidth by offering transcendent live streaming and unsurpassed live VR
experiences to visitors.

Samsung’s new SmartSuit
Samsung is equipping two Dutch speed skaters with sensor-equipped suits that relay live
body position data to their coaches. Software is then able to analyze the skaters racing posture
and suggest improvements that the coaches can relay to a band on the athlete’s wrist. These
suits are only being used in training, as using it in a race would be considered “digital
doping”.

Korea Train Express-- Bullet Train
There’s no excuse for being late to the games! In November 2017 the Korea Train Express
(KTX) line from Seoul to Pyeongchang was completed. The new trains travel at 300kph,
making the journey take only 70 minutes instead of the typical 3 hour journey by road.

MIPS Helmets
Speeds of upto 90 mph are achieved by downhill skiers, hence much research goes into
designing helmets to reduce cranial damage from high-energy crashes. The latest
development in multi-directional impact protection (MIPS) helmets, the Giro Avance, will be
worn by some members of the US skiing team. These high-tech helmets feature a
“hammerhead” design to reduce overall impact and ball-and-socket style slip planes that help
reduce rotational movement during an angled impact.
