You
were born to run! Rebuild your enthusiasm for running with Runity,
which will improve your running technique, and help you learn how to
eliminate pain and reduce injuries. Our upcoming course in Singapore is
great for both personal use and fitness professionals, including
Pilates Teachers, Dancers, Yoga Instructors, and Sports Pro’s. Runity
works for runners of all fitness levels, from beginner to advance,
helping to prepare both body and mind to enjoy running safely and
efficiently for life.
Let’s
assume you used to enjoy running, dreaming of the finish lines you’ll
cross as you push your body faster and farther than you ever have
before. Then you got busy, or perhaps you became injured, or simply
burned out. It’s okay! Getting off-track happens to many runners, not
just you, so don’t stress over that. Everyone needs a little help and
motivation at times.
Here’s a few tips to get you moving again:
Walk before you run
Ease
into running by starting with walking, picking up the pace gradually.
It’s typically recommended to be able to walk for at least 45 minutes
without pain, especially if returning to running after an injury.
Walking reconditions and prepares your muscles for the more rigorous
demands of running.
Patience
Rushing
too quickly to meet a goal can also result in injury, especially after a
previous injury, as well as burning out. We highly recommend meeting
with a professional who can oversee and help guide you in a
rehabilitation program, but if this isn’t possible then you need to pace
yourself, take walking breaks when needed, and listen to your body.
Soreness is expected, but outright pain means you need to take a step
back and slow it down.
Cross-train
Working
out every day will help speed up your overall fitness level, but that
doesn’t mean you need to run every day. Add in two or three days of
Pilates, yoga, weight-training, swimming, cycling or even using an
elliptical machine. Your cardiovascular system will thank you!
Stay Motivated
Why
are you running? Figure this out and you'll have a much harder time
justifying skipping a session or two. Your reason can be as simple as:
being less stressed, improving heart health, and/or losing a few pounds.
Another way to stay motivated is to draft a friend to keep you
accountable. This can be a workout buddy, or someone to check in with
via social media or group workout apps. Again, a professional fitness
trainer is also the best way to stay motivated and get your best fitness
session out of you-- each and every workout!
