At Polestar Pilates Asia our
students are trained in injury rehabilitation and prevention. Our
comprehensive teacher training is an in-depth study of Pilates exercises
and how to do them, but also a collaboration of exploring critical
thinking, creative thinking, and problem solving. Our goal is to create a
positive movement experience for our students, that they can then pass
on to their students, resulting in empowering Polestar Pilates clients
around the world to make healthy changes in the functions of their
lives. We train Pilates Instructors to design Pilates programmes that
will help their clients feel better- reducing daily aches and chronic
pain, heal and prevent injuries, and enhance athletic performance.
Here’s a few of the ways Pilates can help rehab injuries and decrease or completely eliminate chronic pain:
Strengthening your core muscles is
key to improving daily life activities and athletics- core muscles are
much more than simply your abdominals. Your core muscles include the
diaphragm, glutes, deep muscles around the spine and pelvic floor, and
the transversus abdominus. No matter if you’re sitting at a desk all day
or performing powerful athletic movements, strengthening your core will
help your postural muscles support you, decreasing spinal load and
reducing back pain- as well as lowering chance of injury.
Proper alignment is
important for every body- anytime you perform movements using poor
alignment your chances of injury goes up. This goes for daily movements
like walking to the store, doing laundry, and picking up your kids, as
well as athletic movements like running, cycling and sports. When your
body is properly aligned you will feel better, perform better and even
look better. Strength and proper movements learned from Pilates sessions
allows your muscles to support your body in a more aligned position
outside the studio- you’ll learn that even minor adjustments in hip and
neck positions make a huge difference in your activities!
Body Awareness and Control-
Pilates is low impact, making it a very safe exercise for people with
injuries or arthritis. Clients are able to strengthen muscles, joints
and enjoy a full body workout at a challenging level without
experiencing pain. This is due to Pilates emphasis on control and body
awareness- by improving focus on the body and it’s movements injured
clients will feel much more confident and empowered as they learn how to
move and position themselves in ways that don’t hurt.
With
a Polestar instructor, Pilates is an incredibly safe and effective form
of exercise to practice when injured or looking to remain injury free.
