Are you confused by what to wear to a Holiday Party? You aren’t alone! Dress code guesswork can quickly kill the fun vibes, which is why we’ve put together the rules of what to wear- from festive to black tie to cocktail attire and office parties.

Cocktail Attire
In simple terms, this is semi-formal wear. Traditionally, men would always wear suits to cocktail parties, but there’s a bit more flexibility these days. Try:

  • A darker suit- with or without a tie
  • Dress pants with a dress shirt and vest.
  • Sports jacket with a pair of non-ripped dark-wash jeans.
  • Accent your outfit with a nice watch, silk tie or pocket square.

Festive Attire
This is a lot like cocktail attire, but with a holiday spin- and a more casual, easygoing vibe. We suggest avoiding the Rudolph sweater but bold personality will love being able to play with colors and festive accents. Try:

  • Play with the colors of the season, preferably in cooler or darker shades of green, red or white instead of bright, saturated hues.
  • If you have a bold personality, go all-in with a festive suit in seasonal colours.
  •  Add an accent with bright or patterned festive socks and/or tie.

Office Party
When dressing for office festivities, be sure to keep your attire professional. The attire can vary depending on where you work, so take your cues from the day to day attire at your office. Try:
  • A blazer, with or without a tie
  • Adding an accent with festive socks and/or tie.
  • Be sure to wear your best loafers or freshly shined shoes- details still matter!

Black Tie
It’s time to get fancy and break out the Tuxedo! These days there is a bit more leniency and a black suit, white button up shirt and black bow tie are typically acceptable- but to look your absolute best a Tuxedo is the way to go. If you really want to stand out, a midnight blue tuxedo or dinner suit is an on-trend way to look smooth for the occasion. For the Christmas Holidays, we might suggest a dark maroon or dark green- ask your tailor for advice!
